Sit in groups and discuss the following with your friends.
a.) Can you guess where Devika must have gone? Where could she be?
Ans. Devika must have gone towards the forest. She could be in the forest.
b.) Where all must Tshering and Bharati have searched for Devika? Do you think they would have entered the area with the ‘Danger!’ sign? Why do you think so?
Ans. Tshering and Bharati must have searched for Devika near the waterfall, tests, river, etc. No, they would not have entered the area with the ‘Danger!’ sign. They are intelligent girls and know that entering that area may cause them harm as there are bears in the area.
d.) How did Tshering and Bharati feel when their friend was lost?
Ans. Tshering and Bharati must have felt scared and worried when their friend was lost in the forest.
e.) Why and how do you think Devika was lost? Give reasons.
Ans. Devika must have gotten lost as she was not paying attention to where her friends were going. When the three friends had started their trip, Devika must have been busy looking around at the forest. She must have started walking towards the forest area and had not seen whether her friends were coming with her or not. So, while she was admiring the beauty of the forest, she must have not noticed where she was going and then must have gotten lost.
f.) Do you think Tshering and Bharati found Devika in the end? Why do you think so?
Ans. Yes, I think Tshering and Bharati found Devika in the end. This is because a number of Devika’s things like comb, magnifying glass, hat, boots, etc were lying around in different places around the forest. Both the friends must have used these items to track and find their missing friend.
g.) Imagine that you are Devika and you lost your way. Tell your friends the story of how you lost your way.
Ans. Thank you friends for looking for me. I was so scared and confused when I got lost in the forest. At first I was walking on the marked trail. I thought you were coming behind me. I did not realize that I was walking alone as I was talking about the latest movie, thinking you both were listening. I passed the river, crossed to the opposite bank and then again crossed back. I had walked for almost an hour and had crossed the bridge when I realised that I was alone. I got scared and had started running, but went deeper into the forest. I was so scared as it had started to get dark. I was wondering how to get back when I heard your shouts, calling my name. I felt relieved when I saw you both again.
