(1) What do you know about the Old Stone Age?
Ans: The period of man’s story is known as the Old Stone Age that dates back to 3.5 Lakh years to 11,000 years. The first sign of life began from a micro aquatic creatures which gradually developed into gigantic animals like – Dinosaurs, Man evolved onto earth much late. The early man used to eat fruit berries, raw meat and did not know about fire.
(2) Write five important characteristic about the Neolithic Age
Ans: Neolithic age is the last phase of Stone Age also known as new stone age. Five characteristic of this are as follows.
(i) Man started to five in huts, grew his food and also cooked it.
(ii) Man used sharp tools of light weight.
(iii) Man learnt to make vessels of clay and used for storage.
(iv) Man discovered wheels
(v) Man started to live a civilised life and agriculture improved.
(Q3) What do you know about the Mesolithic age?
Ans: Mesolithic age or middle stone age is followed after Old Stone Age. In this age man started making stone weapons like axes, spears, cleavers. Man learn to make small huts instead of rock shelters. During this age man discovered fie accidentally by grinding two stones.
(Q4) How did the invention of wheel helped man?
Ans: The wheels invented by early man was made of solid logs and it made the work of carrying thing from one place to another much easier as rolling of wooden logs required les effort rather dragging the objects.
(Q5) Write a note on cave paintings.
Ans: Early Man learnt to draw and express his artistic feelings much before he learnt to grow food, make vessels etc. Early man used to draw the figures of animals, hunting scenes, human figure etc on the walls of the caves by using painted stones and colours or pigments. These roc drawings or cave painting have discovered in various parts of world and in India in Bhimbaithaka near Bhopal.
