Introduction:
- In this lesson, we’ll focus on multiplying multi digit numbers.
- It is useful in many real-life situations when you are calculating the total number of items, determining the area of a space, or solving complex problems.
Problem 1: Suppose you’re at a store, and you want to buy 525 packs of notebooks, each containing 24 sheets. How many total sheets you have?
You will have 12600 sheets in total.
Multiplying multi digit numbers mean multiplying digits which are more than one.
Example 1: 5765 x 87
Example 1: 234 x 27
Problems of Multiplying Multi-Digit Numbers :-
Example 1: If you have a rectangular garden with a length of 1547 meters and a width of 18 meters, determine the total area of the garden?
Solution:We want to find the total area of garden we need to find
1547 x 18
The total area of garden is 27846 meters.
She will solve 14490 problems in 2415 days.
Example 3: If you need to travel daily and it costs you Rs.15.What will be total cost for 3 years ?
Solution: Here , cost for one day= Rs.15
Cost for 3 years= 15 x 365 x 3
= 15 x 1095
Total cost for 3 years will be 16425 rs.
Example 4: Mansi wants to give 15 books to 1542 people. How many total books she needed ?
Solution : Here , we want to find 154 x 15.
Examples for practice :-
1.) Find the product.
2.) Find the missing value.
