Respected Sir,
The reason for writing this letter is that we are facing major issues related to the noise. I am a student of 10th class, it is important session for me but this uncontrolled voice of loudspeaker disturbs me. Due the misuse of loudspeakers we students of our schools are facing exams related issues also. The loudspeaker at night makes hilarious sound due to which we are unable to prepare for the exam.
Many elders and small children are facing problems; they are having problems of the ear and headache due to the tremendous sound daily. The patients in the area are not getting proper sleep at night; they are in need of the rest which is not getting due to the sound at night.
Please publish my problem into your esteemed daily, so that the higher authorities will notice our problem and find some solutions over it.
Thanking you.
Yours sincere,

Subject -Indiscriminate use of microphones in our locality.
My name is Simrat Kaur and I am a resident of Ward No-34 in the Azad Nagar Housing Society, B. B. Ganguly Street in Kolkata. We have been residing in this locality for last 30 years. I am humbly writing this letter in order to bring in to your notice about the indiscriminate use of microphones in our locality for past one year.
The utilization of microphones in social functions, political rallies, religious functions are a common feature. We have been hearing to various types of announcements, songs, chanting of mantras for a long time now during any functions and programmes in our locality. We understand the employment of these instruments are required but when applied under a regulated sound level these instruments are not harmful.
Unfortunately, for last one year the use of microphones has increased tremendously that these machines have become a curse for all of us. The youngsters are always using microphones very loudly day in and day out for even the most insignificant tasks. Along with this, the use of microphones crossing permissible sound level during regular political meetings, social gatherings, festivals have increased many folds. The use of the microphones is so unrestrained that they are causing noise pollution throughout days and nights. This has become a continuous torture for everyone in the locality. We have tried to convey our distress politely to the organizers and the youngsters many times. We have written letters clearly explaining the hazardous effects of how loud microphones can affect ears and cause deafness, cause high blood pressure and heart diseases. The continuous hearing to loud sounds can also result to sleep disorders and mental health issues. We have not been given any hearing regretfully from the organizers and the local administration is also deaf to our pleas. The continuous use of unrestricted microphones is a regular affair now.
The continuous noise pollution is affecting the students and they are unable to concentrate in studies and we are afraid that as many of them are appearing for their board examination it may be very difficult for them to acquire satisfactory grades. There are many aged people in our locality in our locality who are in complete distress due to the continuous roaring microphones. The patients are unable to have any peaceful rest which is a paramount requirement for quick recovery. It is very much required that some serious actions are taken against the defaulters, sound levels are regulated of the microphones. An awareness programme can also be organized by the authorities for youngsters in our locality.
I earnestly hope that if my letter is published in a respected daily like yours then our condition will come to the notice of the concerned authorities and some actions will be taken surely.
Yours sincerely
Simrat Kaur
