Chapter 18
1.)The length of a playground is 200 metre and the breadth is 150 metre . If Raju wants to go around the boundary once, how many metres would he have to run?
Ans: The length of a playground is 200 metre the breadth is 150 metre
Metres required to go around boundary = p 2( l +b )
= 2(200+150)
= 350 ×2
= 700 m
Ans: Raju required to run 700 m
2.) A square garden has a side of 250 metres. To put a wire fencing around this, what is the length of wire required
Ans: A square garden side is 250m
To put a wire fencing around this,
what is the length of wire required = 250 × 4
= 1000m
Ans: 1000m of length of wire required.
3.) What is the length of lace which would be required to be put around a handkerchief, which is a square with a side of 15 cm each? If you wanted to make 5 such handkerchiefs what length of lace would you need?
Ans: side of a square with 15cm
Perimeter of a square is = 4×15cm
= 60cm
In order to make 5 handkerchiefs
= 60cm ×15cm
= 300cm
Ans: 300cm lace is required to make 5 handkerchiefs.
Write the perimeter of each rectangle
1.) Length = 25 metres, breadth = 20 metres
Ans: P = 2( l +b )
=2(25+20)
= 90m
2.) Length = 32 metres, breadth = 18 metres
Ans: P = 2( l +b )
= 2(32+18)
= 100m
Give the perimeter of the following triangles
1.) 6 cm, 8 cm, 10 cm
Ans: Perimeter =( 6+8+10) cm
= 24cm
2.) 15 cm, 18 cm, 20 cm
Ans: Perimeter ( 15+18+20)
= 53cm
3.) 12 cm, 12 cm, 12 cm
Ans: Perimeter ( 12+12+12)cm
= 36cm
Find the perimeter of the following squares
1.) Each side = 8 metres
Ans: perimeter 4 × 8
=32m
2.) Each side = 11 metres
Ans: 11×4
= 44m
3.) Each side = 35 metres
Ans: 35×4
=140m
