Case Study Questions Class 7 Maths – Ratio and Proportion
CBSE Class 7 Case Study Questions Maths Ratio and Proportion. Here we have arranged some Important Case Base Questions for students who are searching for Paragraph Based Questions Ratio and Proportion.
Directions (Question 1 to 4): Examine the following case study carefully and answer the questions that follow.
Shiv Kumar sold one of his properties for ₹ 72, 00, 000. He divided this money between his sons Atul and Praful in the ratio 7:11. He sold another property for ₹ 63, 00, 000. He divided this money between Atul and Praful in the ratio 8 1/3: 61/4.
(1) What amount did Praful receive from the sale of the first Property?
(a) ₹ 28, 00, 000
(b) ₹36, 00, 000
(c) ₹ 44, 00, 000
(d) ₹ 56, 00, 000
Ans: (c) Amount received by Praful from the sale of the first property = ₹ 44, 00, 000.
In the sale of the first Property:
Atul’s share = ₹ (72, 00, 000 × 7/18) = ₹ 28, 00, 000.
And Praful’s share = ₹ (72, 00, 000 × 11/18) = ₹ 44, 00, 000.
(2) What amount did Atul receive from the sale of the second property?
(a) ₹ 28, 00, 000
(b) ₹ 27, 00, 000
(c) ₹ 44, 00, 000
(d) ₹ 36, 00, 000
Ans: (d) Amount received by Atul from the sale of the second property = ₹ 36, 00, 000.
In the sale of the second property:
Atul’s Share: Praful’s share = 8 1/3 : 6 ¼
= 25/3: 25/4 = 25/3 × 12:25/4 × 12 = 100 : 75
= 100/75 = 4/3 = 4:3.
∴ Atul’s Share ₹ (63, 00, 000 × 4/7) = ₹ 36, 00, 000.
And Praful’s Share = ₹ (63, 00, 000 × 3/7) = ₹ 27, 00, 000.
(3) The difference between the total amounts received by Atul and Praful is-
(a) ₹ 0
(b) ₹ 9, 00, 000
(c) ₹ 7, 00, 000
(d) ₹ 8, 00, 000
Ans: (c) Total amount received by Atul = ₹ (28,00,000 + 36,00,000) = ₹64,00,000.
Total amount received by Praful = ₹ (44,00,000 + 27,00,000) = ₹ 71,00,000.
∴ required difference = ₹ (71,00,000 – 64,00,000) = ₹7,00,000.
(4) The ratio between the amounts received by Atul from the sale of the first and the second properties is-
(a) 64:71
(b) 4:3
(c) 44:27
(d) 7:9
Ans: Ratio of the amounts received by Atul = 28,00,000 : 36,00,000 = 7:9.
Directions (Questions 5 to 8): Examine the following case study carefully and answer the questions that follow.
Bhairon Singh makes statues of brass. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Bhairon uses two varieties of brass for different kinds of statues. Variety 1 contains copper and zinc in the ratio 8:5 and variety 2 contains copper and zinc in the ratio 1/6 : 1/9. Bhairon uses variety 1 to make the statue of the king and variety 2 to make the statue of the queen contained 90 kg of zinc.
(5) Find the quantity of copper present in the brass used to make the statue of the king.
(a) 128 Kg
(b) 80 kg
(c) 150 kg
(d) 208 kg
Ans: (a) Quantity of copper in the statue of king = 128 kg.
In the Statue of the King brass used = 208 kg.
In this brass (variety 1):
Quantity of copper = (208 × 8/13)kg = 128 Kg.
(6) How much copper is contained in the brass used to make the statue of the queen?
(a) 90 kg
(b) 60 kg
(c) 150 kg
(d) 135 kg
Ans: (b) Quantity of copper in the statue of queen = 60kg.
(7) How much zinc is contained in the brass used make both the statues?
(a) 140 kg
(b) 170 kg
(c) 210 kg
(d) 230 kg
Ans: (b) Total quantity of zinc in the two statues = 80kg + 90kg = 170kg.
(8) The ratio of the quantities of copper and zinc used to make the two statues is-
(a) 188:175
(b) 85:96
(c) 54:47
(d) 94:85
Ans: (d) Total quantity of copper in the two statues = 128kg + 60kg = 188kg.
Total quantity of zinc in the two statues = 80kg + 90kg = 170kg.
∴ required ratio = 188:170 = 94:85.
